Ellis Kelly

Originally from Southern California, his early life revolved around sports. Baseball, in particular, shaped his identity, until an injury changed everything. Stepping away from the game opened the door to a broader world. Travel became his new outlet, and along the way, he discovered how deeply art could move people. The way a single image or color could shift a mood, spark a memory, or transform a space, he was hooked. That connection led him to create.

He began with photography, drawn to the emotion and honesty found in 35mm film. The mood, the texture, the imperfections, it felt real. But over time, painting called to him. Abstract minimalism, in particular, offered something photography couldn't: a raw, intuitive freedom. There were no rules, no need for precision. Just feeling.

For him, art isn't about perfection. It's about presence. It's about creating space for interpretation, where each viewer brings their own story to the work. What he loves most about abstract art is its honesty, its ability to be messy, emotional, and undefined. It's a creative outlet that invites stillness, introspection, and personal meaning. And in that openness, he’s found his voice.
